meet the gallerists

Tracy Davies

Tracy was born in Newfoundland and has lived in many cities throughout Canada. Her first experiences as an artist were at a young age in Timmins Ontario, where she won many awards and was included in gallery shows igniting her desire to continue to create. As an adult, Tracy is internationally known, having buyers in many countries. Nature calls to her through her Algonquin roots, inspiring paintings that are both intuitive and colourful. Tracy opened Cailuan Gallery/Studios in Cornwall Ontario. Through running the gallery and taking a pandemic "break" she realized that it was time to focus on her own work for awhile, so she sold the gallery and moved to Toronto where she now lives and continues to create full time from her home studio in the Toronto Beaches. Missing the gallery life, she decided in 2024 to reopen, but this time with a partner & good friend, in a new setting and a new city. Thus “The Jackalope” is born.

Gail Williams

As a child growing up on the shores of the mighty Lake Superior in  Northern Ontario, Gail's artistic dream began. Winning contests and prizes for her creations fueled a desire to become an artist. However, as is often the case, those dreams were sidetracked by a career in healthcare, marriage and motherhood. When at last the stars aligned, she reentered the art-world, took classes, entered shows and art fairs and started selling her work in collections all over the globe. In 2019, she was accepted into the prestigious Salt Spring National Art Prize competition. She's displayed her work in acclaimed galleries in Ontario and Toronto and finally thought she'd 'made it' when she had her first solo show in 2023. Little did she know that fate would intervene again. Through a serendipitous encounter with the extraordinary artist Tracy Davies, a friendship has blossomed into a partnership in a thrilling new venture. She is truly excited to open the doors to The Jackalope Contemporary Art Gallery to showcase artistic excellence and inclusivity.
